Is there a class divide in Singapore? You can bet your peanuts there is.
The latest row, of course, is that which involves MP Mr. Wee Siew Kim and his "elitist" bundle of joy, Shu Min.
I have a message for like minded elitists: Considering oneselves as people staying upstairs is fine, but just dont hurl insults at the people staying downstairs. Cos when there's no one staying downstairs, you just cannot claim to be at the top of the heap, can you?
Here's the other thing. People who serve you are not your servants. People who have hard jobs and are in difficult situations need not be humbled by you just because you are proud. Sticks and stones hurt bones; and sneering just rub salt into those wounds.
The question now is this: How hurt have the masses been? Has damage control worked? Will the elitists want to continue to be associated with Mr. Wee? After all, Mr. Wee is not their bundle of joy.
